About This Place

Located in the heart of Concord, CA, Szechuan Garden offers a bold and authentic journey into Sichuan cuisine, celebrated for its rich, vibrant flavors and signature spicy kick. Specializing in Chinese, Dim Sum, and Sichuan dishes, this restaurant welcomes diners seeking true regional tastes crafted with skill and care.

Step inside and you’ll find a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly balances a casual dining experience with a touch of elegance, making it ideal whether you’re gathering with friends, family, or a larger group. The hospitality here is consistently praised, setting the stage for a memorable meal that excites both the palate and soul.

The menu at Szechuan Garden reads like a love letter to Sichuan’s culinary heritage. Begin with light yet tantalizing starters such as the refreshing Cucumber Salad or the comforting Hot & Sour Soup, each bite bursting with fresh ingredients and authentic seasonings. For those who savor boldness, dishes like sichuan style roast whole fish (特色烤鱼) and the fiery spicy beef combo (夫妻肺片) deliver layers of spice and complexity that awaken your taste buds with every forkful.

Dim sum lovers will appreciate delicate treats like Xiaolongbao, expertly steamed and filled with savory broth and juicy pork, while rice lovers can indulge in perfectly fried delights such as shrimp fried rice (虾炒饭) and beef chow fun (干炒牛河) that are both hearty and satisfying. Vegetarians aren't left behind — flavorful tofu creations like Kung Pao Tofu (宫保豆腐) and the spicy Ma Po Tofu (麻婆豆腐) bring the heat and texture, complemented by savory vegetable dishes including Vegetable Delight (素什锦) and Water Spinach (炝炒空心菜).

Pair your meal with thoughtfully curated drinks. Whether you prefer a crisp glass of Chardonnay, the refreshing bubbles of a Sapporo Beer, or one of their house-made fruit teas — like the vibrant Strawberry or tropical Mango Fruit Tea — every sip enhances the overall dining experience.

The glowing reviews speak volumes: patrons rave about the authenticity and balance of flavors, with Juan P calling the dishes “ridiculously good” and praising the light yet robust taste that ensures you leave satisfied but not overwhelmed. Those less familiar or more cautious about spice can request milder preparations, a flexibility that shows the staff’s attentiveness and dedication to customer enjoyment.

While most find the portions generous and full of flavor, a few mention that some dishes lean heavily on chili peppers, which can be adjusted upon request for an ideal taste profile. Convenient free parking and a clean, safe environment add to the allure of dining here, providing comfort alongside an exceptional meal.

Szechuan Garden is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of Sichuan’s fiery cuisine brought to life in Concord. Everything is great! From the service, to the environment, to the food! We went there as a large group (over 10 people). Some can take spicy dishes while some cannot. We ordered a bunch of dishes with various styples: steamed pork ribs Braised sliced pork with Preserved Mustard Mapo Tofu Pickled vegetable with fish fillet soup 毛血旺 口水鸡 sesame balls The food is really authentic and also the price is reasonable. We will definitely come back!

The food is ridiculously good. Like, flavors on point, not overly salty, everything light and tasty. Honestly this is hands down some of the best food in the area. And it’s really not expensive at all for the generous portions. I can’t wait to come back, such a great addition to the area. Definitely give it a try if you want what to me seemed like some of the most authentic Szechuan in the east bay.

If you're craving for or brave enough to try Szechuan dishes, this is the place for you. Good and tasty selections, cooked well and plated nice and pretty. You can request to tone down the spiciness of the food to your liking.

Free parking, clean place, safe neighborhood. The food was ok. Portions were not really big, but adequate. My issue was with the chili peppers in the kung Pao chicken. As the picture shows, there was way too many - and this is not chewable, you need to set them aside. There were so many chili peppers , it occupied 1/3 of the tiny individual serving plate.

If you’re looking for an authentic, flavor-packed Szechuan dining experience, Szechuan Garden in Concord is the place to be! From the moment you walk in, the interior immerses you in genuine Chinese charm, setting the perfect tone for a meal full of bold, traditional flavors. The Szechuan-style roast whole fish was a hit - perfectly cooked with just the right amount of spice who CAN handle it! It’s a bit on the fiery side, but the balance of flavors is incredible, and the spice level is more of a delightful challenge than a deterrent. The cucumber salad was light and refreshing, and the popcorn shrimp? Mmmmmm….we loved it so much we had to order it twice! The service started off a little dry, but quickly turned into a warm, pleasant and even funny experience that matched the authenticity of the food. To top it all off, the complementary sesame balls served with tea in authentic China-wear were the perfect sweet ending. I couldn’t resist coming back the very next day, this time bringing new friends to share in the experience. Highly recommend this gem for anyone craving true Szechuan flavors!
